Tweed Landcare Inc. was formed as an incorporated community group in late 1997 through the Tweed Catchment Management Committee based on the following objectives

  • To form an association of members who agree with the definition and objectives of total catchment management as set out in the Catchment Management Act 1989 and who share the ideals of the landcare (Landcare, Coastcare, Dunecare, Rivercare..) movement.

  • To act as an "incubator" for the formation of independent associations by providing leadership, a skills and advice base and opportunities to people starting out in the general field of landcare.

  • To initiate, develop, carry out, monitor and evaluate landcare projects as decided by members and to obtain funding from any appropriate source.

  • To carry out all projects with the highest possible standards of scientific integrity and with efficient and practical methods with a view to long term environmental and economic sustainability.
