Past & Current Projects:

Local people initially began this project with a Rivercare 2000 grant in order to regenerate a site in the centre of the village. The farmer who owned the land gave permission to weed the exotics and plant natives on the site and has been supportive throughout the whole of Stokers Streamcare’s life. The site, which borders Dunbible Creek and also includes area around the railway track, has been weeded, planted, fenced, and has a walking path through it.

The school children of the village have been involved from the start, planting trees at the site and having the group help them plant in their own schoolyard. Local Greencorp teams have worked on the site and also further up the in the surrounding valleys on private farmland, further extending the Landcare consciousness.

The site is now a wonderful grove of shady trees that are starting to manage their own weeds by shading them out, but still lovingly tended by local volunteers.
